What is the Best Time to Travel in Malaysia? | Are you planning a trip to Malaysia this year? Malaysia is a great holiday destination in South East Asia region and therefore there are many holiday travelers that visit this country from time to time. However, if you are looking for some great holiday trip experience you need to know what is the best time to visit Malaysia. Knowing the weather conditions and time can help you to make your schedule in a better way so that there are no last moment changes in your itinerary.

Generally, Malaysia has a classic equatorial climate and therefore it is hot and humid most part of the year, but there are times when you need to stay away as rain can play spoilsport. If you are normally heading to beach destinations you can visit them throughout the year as rain won’t really impact your schedule, but if you still want to keep away from it you should avoid the rainy period that usually starts in November and continues till February. Many beach resorts are close during these months and re-open in March for tourists.

If you are on the West Coast and if you are traveling to Langkawi, Penang and Pangkor it is recommended that you avoid going here during September and October as these two months usually see lot of rainfall. However, after October things are pretty hot and humid and therefore you can visit these places from November to August. When you are heading to Langkawi beaches you also want to make sure that you get some diving activities which is poor during those two months.

The east coast of Malaysia gets warm waters from the South China Sea and therefore the rainfall here happens from November to February and therefore it is recommended that you avoid going to places like Tioman Island, Perhentian Islands, Terengganu, Redang, Kota Bharu and Kuantan during these months. The rainfall is heavier and therefore it can disrupt boat crossings and some of the resorts remain close here during these months that can lead to accommodation issues.

If you are planning to travel to Cameron Highlands you can visit it throughout the year, but light showers occur from April to October. These showers usually do not impact the travel schedule and therefore you can be sure that you can move on with your travel plans. Since Cameron Highlands is located high above the sea level it has a different climate than the rest of the Malaysia.
